SURFING IN GALAPAGOS
Even though San Cristobal has good waves year-round, the warm season (from December to April) is recognised as the best time of the year for surfing. This is due to the El Niño current with its Northern swells and favourable winds. However, during the cold season (from May to November) the Humboldt current, coming from southern Latin America, makes it so the water temperatures are lower and there are swells that hit the islands with higher consistency.
Points like Carola, El Cañón, Manglesito, Tongo Reef and La Lobería, which offer their incomparable waves throughout the year, make San Cristobal the surfing capital in Galapagos and the perfect destiny for an unforgettable surf trip.
